Groovin' KIDS shifts the focus from "follow the leader" to a very student centred workshop.

  • We do not encourage students to look like the instructor or anyone else in the room while they are dancing, but to be individual and make simple choices on how they move their own bodies.
  • Rather than teaching how to execute choreography, we show simple dance moves and allow students to explore and get creative with them.  Participants are united by one dance move, though everybody dances it their own way!
  • Students generally do not face one direction in our workshops.  We have them take their moves around the gym allowing them to make choices on how to do each move while interacting and using their imaginations at the same time.
